Scope and Contents

Materials contain a transcribed interview of Rayola Andersen regarding her service in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II from 1945 to 1948. Interview was conducted as part of the Nurses at War Project. Describes also joining the U.S. Air Force but getting deferred for essential civilian duty to set up a hospital in Vernal, UT. Talks about her decision to become a nurse and taking classes at the Latter-Day Saint Hospital. Recalls her fear of being around the instructors, going to choir, serving a Latter-day Saint mission in Norway, and the eradication of polio. Relates several stories of working with sick and injured patients. Concludes by professing her love for nursing. Dated 2003.
