Materials contain the memoir of Blanch Whiting Love regarding her service as a nurse in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during World War II from 1941 to 1945. Memoir was collected as part of the Nurses at War Project. Talks about her decision to become a nurse in order to afford school. Discusses the difficulty of finding employment after graduation because of the Depression. Talks about joining the Army in 1941, training at Fort Douglas and her decision to not serve overseas after Pearl Harbor. Discusses her feelings about dropping the atomic bombs on Japan, getting married, and her various employment opportunities following her service in the Army. Also discusses opportunities to attend church services. Compares her own nursing experiences with current nursing responsibilities and practices. Dated before 2001.
