Scope and Contents

Materials contain a letter written by Amy Cox about her aunt Chloe Cannon McCue (2004). Letter was written for the Nurses at War Project, regarding McCue's service in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a nurse. Letter briefly describes her joining the Navy and being stationed in Long Beach when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Also recalls her being shipped to Hawaii and experiencing a rudder problem, resulting in her ship being left behind the rest of the convoy. Also mentions her being transferred to Guam and caring for Ensign Gay during the Battle of Midway. Dated March 18 2004.
