Scope and Contents

This series makes up the bulk of the collection. It includes all of the materials authored, received or assembled by Charles A. Henson in his capacity as a Chairman of the Provo City Council, Chairman of Public Safety, and Member of the Budget Committee. There are also papers from his time as a member of the Provo City Planning Commission, Board of Adjustments, and the Airport Board.

The materials in this series include inter-office memoranda, correspondence with Provo political officers, assemblies and citizens, plans and designs for Academy Square, reports from various boards and commissions, The National League of Cities papers, various conference reports, and Provo City Council agendas, minutes, ordinances and resolutions.

Charles A. Henson's Provo City Council papers cover a wide range of subjects, arranged in no particular order. Recurring topics include solid waste and waste water management, animal control, Academy Square and downtown Provo redevelopment/renovation, storm drainage systems, and the Annual Freedom Festival.

Biographical History

From the Collection:

Charles A. Henson served many different positions on the Provo City Council.

Charles A. Henson was born August 14, 1930. He taught at Brigham Young University in the Department of Theatre and Film from 1956-1992. He was on the Provo City Council from June 1983-December 1987, where he served as Chairman of the Council, Chairman of Public Safety, and Member of Budget Committee. He has also been a member of the Provo City Planning Commission, Board of Adjustments, and the Airport Board.
