[Looking down Battery or Front Street towards California Street], 1906 April
Scope and Contents
Looking down a street, both sides are filled with debris and a few people. Remains of buildings still stand on both sides. In the center foreground is the Merchant's Exchange building on California and Montgomery Streets. In the left foreground there are many people standing in front of a shack. In the center left there is a building with a large chimney in the center. On the right side of the street there is a hill lined with a fence and damaged buildings. Telephones poles line the street, and there is a smoke-filled sky in the background. Note: portions of Montgomery Street were changed to Columbus Ave. in 1909.
