Letter from Horace Greeley, Boston, to Thomas L. Kane, Philadelphia, inquiring about Kane's health, which was poor at this point. Greeley also describes events that happened recently with his wife, Ida, having traveled to England, including some mentions of her poor health. He ends the letter mentioning lecturing in Ohio and the state of the New York Tribune, which he founded. Original envelope and a transcription of the letter are included. Dated January 4, 1855.

Heber Charles Hicks autobiography

Typewritten and bound autobiography. Hicks lived much of his life in Provo, Utah, where he was employed as a newspaper editor and as a businessman. He also served as a bishop of the Papago Mormon Church Indian Ward.

Typewritten autobiography and a newspaper clipping. Hicks was unable to finish his autobiography due to illness. Hicks was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, delivered newspapers as a young man, and later worked as a newspaper editor in Provo, Utah. Also included is a newspaper clipping from 1971 outlining Hicks' career.
