Biography

Laura Ellen Alley (1923-2019) was a nurse and Associate Professor of nursing at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Laura Ellen Alley was born February 19, 1923 in Bancroft, Idaho to parents Henrietta Johnson and George Alley. She obtained her nursing degree from the LDS Hospital School of Nursing during the World War II years, and went on to obtain a B.S.N. degree and a M.S.N. degree from the University of Utah. She began a career in the nursing profession when serving in the Army Nurse Corps from 1945-1946, during World War II. Her educational interests were varied over the course of her carreer, and she worked in areas ranging from pediatic topics to consulting and service for gerontology clinics. Alley also worked as in the position of Assitant Director of the LDS Hosptial, and as an Associate Professor of Nursing at Brigham Young University. Widely known for her skills, she was recognized by the Utah Nurses Association for her outstanding work in nursing education.

She was an active and beloved member of her community and family circle. Alley passed away on June 28, 2019 in Salt Lake County, Utah.
