Biography

Silas LeRoy Richards was born on October 25, 1882, in Union, Utah, to Silas Newton Richards and Mary Norman Goulder. LeRoy married Hannah Elizabeth Rhead on August 21, 1907. LeRoy served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission from 1902 to 1905. His mother, Mary "Polly" Richardson was killed in an automobile accident in 1921 at age 62. LeRoy and Hannah had four children: Silas, Edward, Grace, and Deane. LeRoy lived in Salt Lake City for several years before moving to California where he operated an industrial products firm in Oakland. LeRoy died on April 20, 1961, in El Cerrito, California.
