Biographical History
Roy W. Doxey (1908-1992) was a theologian, author, and faculty member of Brigham Young University.
Roy W. Doxey was born in Ogden, Utah on February 27, 1908. He married Alberta Opheikins in 1934. He served as the mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Eastern Mission beginning in 1944 and ending in 1948. During his time as mission president, he reestablished the Hill Cumorah pageant following the end of WWII. Doxey also developed a standardized teaching method for missionary use. Doxey joined the faculty at Brigham Young University where he taught until 1974. In 1963, he was appointed chairman of the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Religion. Doxey served as Dean of Religious Education at BYU from 1971 to 1974. He was succeeded by Jeffrey R. Holland. Doxey also served on the Utah Valley Hospital board and published twelve books. He died in 1992.
