Biographical History

Dean Fausett (1913-1998) was a painter of landscapes, history, and portraits.

William Dean Fausett was born on July 4, 1913 in Price, Utah, The 6th child of parents George Adelbert and Helen Josephine Bryner Faucett. He studied at Brigham Young University, the Beaux Arts Institute of Architecural Education, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and Eastern Illinois University. Well known for his paintings of the American West, Fausett was the recipient of the Carnegie International Prize.

Scope and Contents note From the Collection: Much of the collection is composed of subject files, labeled and in the order in which they arrived at the repository. The files cover subjects such as different museums and art organizations, people and correspondence, and everyday files regarding taxes and bills. The personal papers of Dean Fausett also contain a significant number of photographs, many capturing Dean while painting, others posed shots of Dean and acquaintances, and others landscapes.
