Biography
Emma Gurney Smith Ballif (1864-1942) was a mother and early member of the Church.
Emma Gurney Smith was born on Ocotber 19, 1864 to Thomas Smith and Margret Gurney Smith in Logan, Utah. Emma was a soprano and took part in many operas and choirs from a young age. She married John Lyman Ballif on October 20, 1886 and they had at least eight children together. Emma worked to raise her children alone for several years as her husband was called on a mission to France. Emma lived in Rexburg from 1901-1934 where she served in stake Relief Society callings. She passed away on April 4th, 1942 in Logan, Utah.
