As a young woman Emma James migrated to Utah with the ill-fated Willie Handcart company. Emma describes how the decision was made to travel to Utah late in the season and gives many details on the nature of the journey and the tragedy which followed. She tells about the starvation, cold, hardships faced by her family, and the death of her father, William James...
