William Wood (1808-1894) was a banker in New York.

William Wood was born on October 21, 1808 in Glasgow, Scotland to John Wood and Elisabeth Dennistoun. He later immigrated to New York where he became a banker. On September 15, 1830 he married Harriet Amelia Kane. They had seven children, including Elisabeth Dennistoun Wood. After her death in 1846, he married Margaret Lawrence on October 12, 1847 and they had six children. In his later years he served on the Board of Education of the city, and was engaged in philanthropic efforts. Wood died in New York on October 1, 1894.

Contains photographs found in the second volume of the Kane family photograph album. The photographs depict people and portraits of people known to the Kane family. These include Elizabeth Wood Kane's father, William Wood, and many unnamed people who are presumably Kane or Wood family members, and a single photograph depicting a living room. Materials are largely undated and unlabeled, but presumably date from the mid-19th century to early 20th century.

Contains two visiting cards found in the pages of a Roman history volume in the Kane family collection. These cards depict D. Chalmers and Chas. Chalmers. Each is addressed to William Wood, and contains a small amount of information about the lives of the subject. The card for Chas. Chalmers is dated 1853; the card for D. Chalmers is undated, but likely dates to the late-19th century.
