John Riggs was born on December 20, 1812 to parents Gideon Riggs and Susan Pitcher in New Haven, Connecticut. He was married to Jane Kelton Bullock on October 8, 1843. John and Jane had 9 children, 1 of which was adopted and 4 of which lived to adulthood. John Riggs was a doctor in the Provo, Utah area as early as 1852. He passed away on March 28, 1892.
