Dec. 28, 1837; parents Robert Walter Weir and Louisa Ferguson; In 1861 Weir joined the 7th New York Regiment as a private.fighting in the battles of Chacellorsville, second Bull Run, Gettysburg, and Fredericksburg. d. July 18, 1886 Gulian shot himself in the heart at his quarters at Fort Hamilton.)

Scope and Contents note

Scrapbook contains information about Gulian Verplanck, Harry Casey Weir, and William Bayard Weir, with materials dating from between 1849 and 1886. The Gulian Verplanck section contain newspaper clippings about his suicide. Harry Casey Weir section contains one photograph of Weir and his obituaries. William Bayard Weir section contains newspaper clipping about his murder by the Indians. There is also a note by Lavinia M. Morehead, written between 1765 and 1929.
