Biography

In 1916, Simon Bamberger ran for the office of governor of the state of Utah; Bamberger was the first non-member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the first Democrat and the only Jew ever to seek that office; b. Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, 1846. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1861; merchant, banker, and mine-owner in Salt Lake City. Born Feb. 27, 1846, Eberstadt, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany and died Oct. 6, 1926.

Handwritten and printed stock certificate for the Bingham Mary Copper Company dated 14 Jan. 1907. The item was signed by Bamberger. Also included are photocopies of printed biographies of Bamberger.
