Robert Weir (b. 1770) was a shipping merchant and father to Robert Walter Weir.
Robert Weir was born January 8, 1770 in the Low Church, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland to Walter Weir and Jean Fulton. Robert Weir came to the United States in 1795. Weir married Mary Katherine Brinkley. In 1813 he declared bankruptcy due French confiscation of shipping goods. Robert Weir had six children: Robert Walter (1803-1889), Mary Catherine (b. 1805), James Weir (b. 1807), John Brinkley (b. 1811), Charlotte Augusta (b. 1817), and Charles Edward (1823-1843).
