Biography

Fern Ballard (1916-1994) was a cosmetologist and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Fern Ballard was born June 30, 1916 to Ivon Lee and Emma Catherine (Kate) Okelberry Ballard in Goshen, Utah. She grew up on a farm and went to school in Payson. Fern received a scholarship to study cosmetology in Salt Lake City, where she opened Beehive Beauty and Barber Shop. She lived with her sister and niece for much of her life. Fern was dedicated to embroidering, crocheting and serving her extended family. Fern was confined to a wheelchair for the last years of her life but was kind and generous to everyone. She died of heart failure on December 21, 1994 in Salt Lake City.
