Biographical History

Hiram S. Kimball (1806-1863) was a businessman and military servant who was born in Vermont but later lived in Nauvoo, Illinois and Utah.

Hiram Kimball moved to Nauvoo during his adult life and began doing business there. While he lived there, he learned of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized. He served as a general in the Nauvoo Legion until he was wounded in battle in 1846. When the Saints moved West, he went with them. He was called to serve a mission to the Sandwich Islands but died at sea on the journey there.
