Many of the items were created by Cannon's secretary, Caroline Evans. The materials deal largely with the question of free coinage of silver in the United States. The collection is found on six reels of microfilm positively reproduced and on six reels of microfilm negatively reproduced.

Strain writes concerning the Ruby Valley Land Company. Strain wants to know the strength of the company and the outlook for its succes. Apparently, the company was established with the intention of attracting Mormon settlers.
