Gospel Link, via WWW, March 17, 2014 (born on September 13, 1800, in Marlborough, Vermont; to parents Joseph Knight and Polly Peck; Joseph Smith work on the Knight's family farm in 1826, tell the family about his experiences and teach them the gospel; led to Knight's baptism into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1830; baptized by David Whitmer, one of the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon; subject of the first miracle performed in the Church when an evil spirit was exorcised from him by Joseph Smith; married Sally Colburn on June 7, 1825; two children together; Peck died in 1834 and Knight remarried; second wife, Lydia Goldthwaite Bailey; seven children together including Jesse Knight (a famous member of the Church in Utah); served on the first high council of the Church in Clay County, Missouri in 1834; four other high councils during the next twelve years; 1846, sent by Brigham Young to lead a wagon company west; died at the Ponca Encampment at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 11, 1847, during the Latter-day Saint exodus; friend of Joseph Smith)
