Biographical History

Randal Jule Christiansen (1961- ) is the owner/partner of various law firms in the Provo, Utah area, alumnus from Brigham Young University, and a former mission president for the Maryland Baltimore Mission.

Randal Jule Christiansen was born to Kent Harry and Betty Lou Goodwin Christiansen on January 11, 1961. He grew up in Provo Utah, graduating from Timpview High School. Christiansen served as a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Carolina Raleigh Mission. He attended Brigham Young University between 1982-1988, receiving his bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and English and a Juris doctorate from BYU's J. Reuben Clark Law School. After graduation, he became the partner/owner of three law firms in the Provo, Utah area including Jarussi & Christiansen, Reynolds & Christiansen, and Christiansen & Tornton.

While pursuing his law career, he married Mary Ann Markham. Together, they had six daughters including Juliett, Ashley, Abigale, Camille, and Anna. Their eldest, Juliett, passed away at the age of 15 due to complications caused by a rare chronic illness. As an adult, Christiansen served as a high councilor, bishop, stake president, and acted as Mission President to the Maryland Baltimore Mission from 2015 to 2018.

Typescript of an interview conducted by Randy Christiansen for Hillam's War Project. Also included is the audiocassette from which the interview was transcibed. Ash talks about flying combat missions in World War II over Romania, Germany, and other parts of Europe. He flew the B-24 bomber. He was also shot down and captured. Ash talks about his experiences as a prisoner of war held by Germany.
