Biographical History

Tamma Durfee Miner (1813-1831) was an early member and pioneer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tamma Durfee Miner was born March 6, 1813, in Lenox, Madison, New York to Edmond Durfee and Lanna Pickle. After moving the family to Ruggles, Ohio, her parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in May and June 1831. Tamma married Albert Miner in August 9, 1831, and joined the Church in December 1831. Her husband joined in February 1832. Tamma and her family followed the Latter-day Saints to Kirtland, Ohio Far West, Missouri, and Nauvoo, Illinois, suffering persecution. Her father, Edmund, was killed by a mob in November 1845. On January 3, 1848, Albert Miner died, and Tamma and her seven children moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, for two years. In 1850 they migrated by wagon to the Salt Lake Valley. Tamma married Enos Curtis October 20, 1850, and the family moved to Springville, Utah. Tamma died January 30, 1885, in Springville, Utah.
