Biography

Elvira Egbert Carson (1821-1908) was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and early settler of Utah.

Carson was born on September 10, 1821 in Green Township, Indiana. She and her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1833. She married John Carson in 1841, and together they had eleven children. She arrived with her family in Utah in 1851.

Elvira Egbert Carson died on February 28, 1908 in Provo, Utah.

Photocopy of a typescript of an autbiography "as given to H. Carson Healy, a grandson, during the summer of 1901 at Provo Bench (Orem), Utah." Carson tells Healy about joining the Mormon Church in Kentucky, facing persecutions in Missouri, migrating to Utah, and her life in Fairfield, Utah.
