Verlyn Dale Frost was born on July 1, 1933 to John Allen and Thelma Lewis Frost in Taylor, Arizona. He had two sisters, Elaine and Emma Lou. When he was six weeks old, his family moved to Snowflake, Arizona. Three months after returning from his mission, Verlyn Dale Frost married Carol Jean Gibson in the Mesa, Arizona temple, on September 5, 1955. They raised seven children.

Verlyn Dale Frost taught industrial education and driver education at Paradise Valley High School and Paradise Valley Community College near Phoenix, Arizona, for over thirty years. During some of this time, he served as the bishop of the Paradise Valley 2nd Ward. From 1996 to 1998, Verlyn Dale and Carol Jean Frost served a couple mission to the Tongan Islands, and then in 2004 served a church and family history mission in Salt Lake City, Utah.
