Biographical History

Kent P. Jackson (1949- ) is a professor of religion in Utah.

Kent P. Jackson was born August 9, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Nancy Porter and together they have had five children. He received his B.A. from Brigham Young University (BYU) in Ancient Studies, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan. He has taught at Brigham Young University since 1980. He served in many positions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jackson is a professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University and the associate director of the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies. He is a former associate dean of Religious Education and chair of Near Eastern Studies at BYU.
