Israel C. Heaton (1912-2008) was a recreation professor in Utah.

Feb. 23, 1912 in Moccasin, Ariz.; parents: Israel Hoyt and Charlotte Cox Heaton; grew up in Kanab, Utah; herded sheep; enjoyed physical activity and music throughout his life, playing trumpet and guitar; bachelors and masters degrees from Utah State Agricultural College; doctorate of education from Indiana University; taught 5th and 6th grade serving as principal in Vernal, Utah; m. Arline Hardy on Aug. 17, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple; served in Air Force in World War II, received a direct commission as a second lieutenant; Pres. Ernest Wilkinson brought Israel to BYU to organize Recreation Dept., 1957; served three missions for the LDS Church with wife in Hyde Park Visitors Center in London, England, in Baton Rouge, La. and in the Oak Hills Stake in Provo, Utah; served at MTC and in the Provo Temple)
