Biography

Ida Smoot Dusenberry (b. May 5,1873; d. Apr 25,1955) was an american educator focusing on Kindergarten education.

Ida Smoot Dusenberry was born on May 5, 1873 to parents Abraham Owen Smoot and Anne Kirstiene Mauritzen in Salt Lake City Utah. She married George Albert Dusenberry in Manti Utah in the year 1891 they went on to have two children. She attended Brigham Young Academy from the age of 5 and graduated in 1897. The following year she studied at Chauncy Halle College in Boston and graduated with her degree in Kindergarten education in 1899. She was the president of the BYU kindergarten training school from 1899 until 1925. She was subsequently from 1901-1921 as the president of the Utah State Kindergarten Association. She served as the second counselor in the general relief society presidency from 1901-1910. She died on April 25, 1955 in Salt Lake City Utah.
