Florence Jepperson Madsen (1886-1977) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a composer, a vocalist, a director of Relief Society Singing Mothers, and a Brigham Young University professor emeritus.

The work is a history and an analysis of LDS hymns and of those who wrote them. The item was coauthored by Florence J. Madsen (1886-1977).
