Biological History

Andrew Hunter Scott (1815-1874) was a pioneer, tailor, and farmer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Utah.

Andrew Hunter Scott was born on August 21, 1815 in Middletown Township, Pennsylvania to Joshua Hunter Scott and Nancy Ann Keen. He married Sarah Leeds Sleeper on February 18, 1838 in Vincentown, New Jersey and had five children together. In 1840, Andrew heard about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and joined the church three years later. When he moved to Utah to live with the Saints his wife didn't go with him and kept their three girls with her. Andrew paid Sarah Ann Humphrey Roe to take care of his two boys on the journey. While living in Iowa, Andrew married Sarah Ann Humphrey Roe on January 12, 1851. From Iowa to Salt Lake City, Utah Andrew was a part of the Morris Phelps Company. While living in Utah, Andrew worked as farmer, builder, businessman, and participated in many civic and religious affairs. His last calling was the bishop of the Provo 2nd Ward. Andrew died in Provo, Utah on October 11, 1874 after being sick for only a few days.
