Biography

Andrew Jenson (1850-1941) was an Assistant Church Historian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Andrew Jenson was born as Anders Jensen on December 11, 1850 in Denmark. His parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was a young child, and moved the family to Utah in 1866. Jenson served missions to Denmark in 1873 and 1879. He later became Assistant Church Historian. Jenson died November 18, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Correspondence; autobiography of Jenson's life from the time he lived in Denmark to his residence in Utah; drafts of writings for the newspaper column, "Jenson Travels," appearing in the Deseret News newspaper; travel notes; photographs; and memorabilia. Jenson's writings largely pertain to Mormon and Utah history. Dated 1850 to 1935.

Handwritten diary and notes mostly in Danish. These entries were written in four almanacs, on an envelope, and on one loose sheet of paper. The diary was written for the year 1872. The notes largely record historical events from ancient to modern times.
