Willard Ray Luce, Jr. (1914-1990), educator, writer, and photographer in Utah.
Willard Ray Luce was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Price, Utah. He was the son of Willard Ray Luce, Sr., and Rachel Olsen Luce. He married Celia Grnrva Larsen on June 3, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah. During World War II, from 1945-46, he served in the Merchant Marines. Willard attended BYU and earned a Normal Degree in 1938 and a B.S. in 1947. He taught school in San Juan County, Utah (1938-19544). He taught in the Alpine School District, Orem, Utah (1944-45, 1948-54 and 1955-1973). He taught jounalism courses at BYU (1946-1947).Willard was a member of the League of Writers, serving as state President in 1948-49. Willard wrote numerous stories and atricles that were published in various magazine, newspapers and textbooks. He was also a prolific photographer. He especially photographed the western United States. He died in September 28, 1990.

Willard and Celia Luce collection
Contains manuscripts, correspondence, drafts, and other papers relating to the works of Willard and Celia Luce. It also contains various other materials that include a Provo High yearbook, gifts from friends, etc.

Contains over 29,000 items of color transparencies, 35mm and 7x7 cm. slides, black and white negatives and prints taken by Willard Ray Luce Jr. It also contains many original copies of magazine and newspaper articles where Willard Luce's writings and/or photogrpahs appeared. Most of the photographs are of the Western United States landscapes and wildlife which includes insects, animals, and plants. Also included are several books and manuscripts and a bibliography by Celia Luce.

These boxes contain various pamphlets, magazines, and poetry booklets. Also included is a Provo High School yearbook from 1933 and a booklet for a 50 year reunion, held in 1983, for the graduating class of 1933.
Willard Luce documents and manuscripts, 1960-1985
This series contains manuscipts, research documents, articles and photographs published in magazines that were submitted by Willard Luce. The magazines include "The Friend," "Popular Photography," "Deseret News," "Relief Society Magazines," "Mountain West," and "Empire." Included are articles written by Celia Luce and accompanied by Willard photographs. Celia also wrote a bibliography titled "Willard and Me" which is included in the series along with the manuscript.
Willard Luce photograph negatives, 1960-1985
This series contains 35mm negatives and various other sizes of nagative taken by Willard Luce. The series contains the negatives to many of the prints found in each series including animals, insects, experimental photography, plants, landscapes, landmarks and people. The bulk of the negatives (96 boxes) are on 4x5 in. cards placed in individual envelopes.

This series contains color transparencies, 35mm and 7x7 cm slides, and black and white prints taken by Willard Luce. The sereis contains images of animals. There are many variaties of water birds, tree birds and birds found at the zoo. Many of the animals such as elk, bears, and moose were photographed in their natural habitat from many locations specifically in national parks such as Yellowstone. There is also an extensive collection of deer specifically found in Utah.

This series contains 35mm slides, 7x7 cm slides and black and white prints taken by Willard Luce. The series contains images of experimental photography such as double exposures, moire patterns, textured screen and other photogprahic experiments. These experimental images include animals, insects, buildings, landscapes and people.

This series contains color transparancies, 35mm and 7x7 cm. slides, and black and white prints taken by Willard Luce. The series contains images of insects including caterpillars and butterflies, worms, moths, flies, brine shrimp, beetles, and bees. Many of the insects are on plants and some are in water.
