Scope and Contents Copy of handwritten letter by Thomas Dorey on October 21, 1850. It consists of Thomas Dorey talking about his goals of travelling to Oregon to possibly work in the mines and later travel to Hawaii and South America. Dorey also warns people to not move to Utah as, according to him, the supplies were scarce, and people were very poor. Dorey suggests he was instructed by the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Twelve Apostles that emigrants should avoid going to...
