Biography

R.N. Allred (1822-1905) was a member of the Mormon Battalion Company A an early member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Reddick Newton Allred was born on February 21, 1822 in Bedford, Tenessee to Isaac Allred and Mary Calvert. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1833 and later moved to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1840. He was a member of the Mormon Battalion in Company A from 1846-1847. He was a member of the Levi Hancock/Jefferson Hunt/James Pace/Andrew Lytle migration company in 1847 and the Allen Taylor migration company in 1849. Reddick died on October 10, 1905 in Chester, Utah.

Scope and Contents

A collection of five handwritten RSVP letters addressed to Brigham Young and sent from Matthew Caldwell, Reddick Newton Allred, Simmons Philander Curtis, Haden Wells Chruch, and one unknown author. The RSVP letters were written in the month of June of 1863 confirming the guests attending the Mormon Battalion festival in July of that year. Materials dated June 14 to 30, 1863.
