Biography

John Buehler was a choir conductor in Manti, Utah.

John Buehler (Johannes Bühler) was born September 5, 1852, in Schwellbrunn, Switzerland, to Johannes Bühler and Anna Barbara Alder. He married Emma Ambühl on November 15, 1875, in Schwellbrunn, Switzerland. John was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in October 1881, and Emma was baptized in January 1882. In May 1882, they emigrated to Manti, Utah, where John conducted the German choir for 25 years and sang in the Manti Tabernacle Choir. John died on October 11, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 89.

Scope and Contents Collection contains a black ledger book including temple ordinance records (page 1-39), family lineage (pages 72-75, 114-118), a quote from Wilford Woodruff (page 77), and a Johannes Buehler autobiography titled "A Short History of My Life" (found on pages 78-88). Also contains a typescript of "funeral service of John Buehler" and two Buehler family photographs. One photograph is an image of Florence and Clarence Buehler in a buggy and the other is a portrait of Hermina Florence Buehler....
