Biography

Don A. Buswell (1921-2009) was a dentist, philanthropist, and veteran of WWII.

Donald Averett Buswell was born on January 12, 1921, to John Daniel Buswell and Indra Christine Averett in Ogden, Utah. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his return to Utah, Don practiced dentistry in Ogden, becoming a leader in many dental associations. Buswell married LauRene Thompson in Ogden on August 27, 1943.

Buswell prioritized community service throughout his life. With Rotary International, he led expeditions to Jamaica to provide charitable dental care. He also served as a member of the Weber County Sheriff's Posse, was a member of multiple alumni associations, and advocated for the construction of community buildings in the city of North Ogden. Buswell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a bishop, a member of the Ogden Temple presidency, and in the Ogden Inner-city Mission.

Don Averett Buswell died in North Ogden, Utah, on December 7, 2009.
