Biography

Sun Myung Moon (1920-2012) was the founder of the Unification movement.

Sun Myung Moon was born January 6, 1920 into a Presbyterian family in North Korea. In 1946, he founded the Kwang-Ya Church in Pyongyang, where he was imprisoned by Communist authorities. In 1954, he moved to Seoul, where he founded the Unification Church. The church became prominent in the United States in the 1970s. In addition to the church, Reverend Moon expanded business interests in several countries. He was anti-Communist due to his experience in Pyongyang, and encouraged the formation of the non-profit educational organization, Causa International. Reverend Moon passed away September 3, 2012.
