Scope and Contents

Collection includes correspondence, files, judicial reports, and other papers relating to the personal and professional life of Marion Jones Callister. There is also an oral history. Included are papers specifically on the Idaho vs. Freedom case. Much of the collection deals with his service as a judge; the controversy over the equal rights amendment is mentioned throughout the collection. The collection dates from 1930 to 1994.

Scope and Contents Photocopies of typewritten and signed report of a court case. The case was McCabe et al., v. Arave et al. Melvin A. McCabe and Mark Madsen, inmates of the Idaho State Correctional Institution and members of the Church of Jesus Christ Christian, compalined that Arvon Arave, Warden of the Institution, and Al Murphy, Director of the Idaho State Department of Corrections, denied them the right to practice their religion.
