Biography

Joseph W. Cooldige (1814-1871) was an early member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Joseph Wellington Coolidge was born May 31, 1814, in Massachusetts, to John Kittridge Coolidge and Rebecca Stone Wellington. He married Elizabeth Buchanan on December 17, 1834 in Illinois. In 1938, Coolidge was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He later became a member of the Nauvoo Legion. He was appointed the administrator of Joseph Smith's estate after Smith's death in 1844. Coolidge later moved to Iowa, where he died in 1871.

Ledger page, written on both sides, titled "Sceduel of Book Accounts," signed by Joseph W. Coolidge, the "Administrator of Joseph Smith deceased." A note on the page indicates it was filed January 15, 1845. The sheet is an accounting of Joseph Smith, Jr.'s personal debts, including names of creditors and dollar amounts.
