 Person

Biographical History

Sonia Peterson (1938-) has done avid family history research, establishing the Aycock Center of Family History with her husband.

Sonia Peterson, the daughter of C. Ray Peterson and Geneva Mary Irons, was born in 1938. She married Max Aycock in the Salt Lake City Latter-day Saint temple on 16 December 1959. With her husband, the couple restored Max's great-great grandfather's home, turning it into the Aycock Center of Family History. This center, in North Carolina, served not only as the Aycock's Family History Center but also the couple's wintertime home. With this restored home, they have been able to help their family trace their family history. The pair also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Joseph Smith Academy in Nauvoo, Illinois from 2001 to 2002. Together, the couple parented six children. Sonia Peterson Aycock currently lives in Ephraim, Utah. Her husband passed away in April 2009.
