Biographical History

Antonita Mendiola Trebesch (1934-) experienced the Japanese occupation of Guam during World War II as a child.

Antonita Mendiola Trebesch was born and raised in Guam as the youngest of nine children. Her mother passed away the day after she was born, so she was raised by her aunt. She was seven years old when Pearl Harbor was bombed and Japan occupied Guam. After they were liberated and after she graduated high school, she received a scholarship and moved to the States to attend nursing school and study anesthesia. She married an American whose family had come from Prussia. They moved to Provo. She was Catholic until she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1980.
