Marion F. Barnhill, Sr. (1916-2013) was an author and WWII veteran.

Marion F. Barnhill, Sr. was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on October 29, 1916, to John and Ella Barnhill. He grew up in Hampstead, North Carolina and graduated from Topsail High School before enlisting in the Army Air Corp. Barnhill served in WWII and the Korean conflict. His plane was shot down during his 8th mission flying a B-17 over Germany, and he and his crew became prisoners of war for 18 months. He was held in Stalag Luft III, and later moved to Nuremberg-Langwasser. After the war, Marion worked for the State of North Carolina and was active in the American Legion. He also wrote and published the book, Vignettes of Hampstead and Other Exotic Places. He was married twice, first to Ruby Griffin Barnhill for 44 years and then to Belva Engberson Barnhill. Barnhill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He died on October 25, 2013.

Contains two copies of the autobiography of Marion F. Barnhill Sr., one of which is annotated, a separate account by Marion about his fourth bombing mission, photocopies of photographs of him during World War II, a copy of the minutes written by David Farrell of the Latter-Day-Saints meetings in Stalag Luft III, a copy of Kriege Life by Carl H. Holmstrom, an Ensign article from 1987 by William Hale Kehr, and other clippings related to the war. Dated 1982 to 2011.
