Biographical History

Ellie Colton (1931-) is the wife of Sterling D. Colton, former vice president of the Marriott Corporation.

Eleanor Ricks Colton was born in Rexburg, Idaho and attended University of Utah to study elementary education. She taught fifth grade. In 1954, she married Sterling in the Idaho Falls Temple and went on to accompany him as he served in the U.S. military and as part of the worldwide Marriott Corporation. She and her husband were called to serve in the Canada Vancouver mission in 1995 and, in 2000, they were called as temple president/matron over the Washington D.C. Temple.
