Biography
Brian C. Hales (1957- ) is a Utah-based anesthesiologist and author with research interests in polygamy and fundamentalism.
Brian C. Hales was born in 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Heber Lee Hales Jr. and Barbara McGregor. Brian C. Hales is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served a mission in Venezuela from 1976-1978. He went on to marry Laura Harris Hales and together they had four children. He sang as a member of the Tabernacle Choir from 1999-2013. He graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. in biology, and from University of Utah's College of Medicine. Brian C. Hales works professionally as a board-certified anesthesiologist in Layton, Utah. He served as president of the Utah Medical Association in 2012-2013, and as president of the Medical Staff at Davis Hospital and Medical Center. He is the author of 7 books dealing with polygamy; has presented at numerous meetings and symposia on the subject; and has published articles in the Journal of Mormon History, Mormon Historical Studies, Dialogue, and contributed chapters to The Persistence of Polygamy book series.
