Biographical History

Alan Barnett works as an archivist for the Utah State Archives.

Alan Barnett was born in Provo, Utah in 1964 to John Dean Barnett and Joan Casper. After graduating from Timpview High School in 1982, he attended Brigham Young University, where he received a Bachelor's degree in History. Afterwards, he then received a Master’s degree in Architectural History and Historic Preservation from the University of Utah. Once finishing college, he worked for a variety of state historical societies including the Utah Division of State History, the Utah Heritage Foundation. He currently works at the Utah State Archives as an archivist.
