Biographical History

Dixie K. Magnum Snow (1913-2015) was the granddaughter of Jesse Knight, daughter of Willis Lester Magnum and Jennie Pearl Knight, and the wife of William J. Snow, Jr.

Dixie K. Magnum Snow was born in 1913 in Provo, Utah, to Willis Lester Magnum and Jennie Pearl Knight, the daughter of Provo mining magnate Jesse Knight. She grew up with her three brothers and three sisters in Provo. She attended Provo Junior High and Brigham Young University High School. Her junior year of high school, Dixie briefly lived in California. However, she returned to Provo to graduate from BYU High School and later attended Brigham Young University.

In the 1930s, she moved to Washington, DC. While there, she met a fellow former Provo citizen William J. Snow, Jr. The two married in the Salt Lake temple in 1934. They raised their family in Washington, DC; Kansas City; and Maplewood, New Jersey. Eventually the couple retired in 1967, and Bill passed away in 1987.

After his death, Dixie returned to Provo. During her last few decades, she served in various organizations, including the BYU Emeritus Association, continued to develop in her skills on the piano and cello, and much more. On November 24, 2015, she passed away at the age of 102.
