Biographical History

Barbara Carter is a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and native from Lewiston, New York who was interviewed for the Charles Redd Center's "Historic Downtown Provo Oral History Project."

Barbara Carter was born in Lewiston, New York. After meeting her future husband, Carter moved to Provo, Utah in 1973. While there, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fell in love with the small town atmosphere of old Provo and its music. She attended musical performances in the Provo Tabernacle and BYU's de Jong Concert Hall, as well as performed in groups live the Woodward Chorale. She shared her memories of her life in Provo in the Charles Redd Center's "Historic Downtown Provo Oral History Project."
