Biography
Mary H. Farahnakian (b. 1949) is a professor of design and technology in Utah.
Mary H. Farahnakian was born in Iran in 1949. She attended college at the University of Tehran, where she studied theatre and film. She also became a professional actress during this time, acting both on stage and on the National Television of Iran. She completed her bachelor's degree from the University of Tehran in 1972. That same year she was awarded a scholarship to study for a PhD in the United States, and completed her degree at Brigham Young University in 1977. She then returned to Iran to teach at the University of Tehran from 1977 to 1981.
In 1982 she returned to Brigham Young University to join the Department of Theatre and Cinematic Arts. He was appointed an associate professor at the university in 1988, and in 2009 became a full profesor. As of 2021, Mary was a professor of Design and Technology in the Department of Theatre and Media Arts Department, where she taught costume history, specialty, design, and construction.
