Biographical History

Doreen Rappaport (1939-) is an author of non-fiction and multicultural children's books.

Doreen Rappaport was born in New York City. In her youth she studied the arts at the Performing Arts High School and later graduated from Brandeis University. She taught music at a Junior High and then movied to McComb, Mississippi in 1965 to teach at a Freedom School. She has earned numerous awards in literature, including The Washington Post Children's Book Guild Award. She has written over 48 non-fiction and multicultural books. She is married to Bob Rosegarten and she lives in New York City and Copake Falls.
