Biographical History
James M. Thorne (1937-2011) was a chemistry professor in Utah.
James Meyers Thorne was born June 3, 1937, in Logan, Utah, to James Perry Thorne and Isabelle Norma Meyers. He graduated from South Cache High School, served an LDS mission to the Central United States, then earned a bachelor's degree from Utah State University. He receive his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, then became employed as a professor of chemistry at Brigham Young University. He married Kaye Hugie on June 3, 1960 in Logan, Utah. He was a founding member of Moxtec, Inc. He was also an active member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as Explorer leader and Scoutmaster. He died July 21, 2011, in Provo, Utah, at the age of 73.
